Our focus for this conference will be ‘Preaching for a change’. Many church leaders invest a significant proportion of their time in preparation for a Sunday sermon, and see this as the major channel for communicating the hope to be found in Jesus. Does this model still hold true for today in our largely post-Christian society where national church attendance is running slightly less than 8%? Together, over the three days we are going to explore this question, together with the place of preaching in contemporary society, and addressing issues such as what exactly is the gospel and how can we meaningfully cross the cultural gap in services? We will also delve into the countdown to Sunday, looking at how we use our time to plan for services, seek inspiration and develop interactive ways of communicating, including the use of more dialogue. My prayer is that this time might inspire us with a fresh vision for communication that helps people journey towards Christ.
Our time will begin at 4pm on the 11th May and finish after lunch on the Friday, giving time for your trip home. Whilst we continue to financially support these events as part of our investment in you, we ask for a contribution towards the costs of £49 per person, which we hope your church would cover. Should this causes you or your church any financial difficulty, then please contact us directly as we would hate you to miss out for the sake of a few pounds.
This event is open to leaders of Rural Ministries Partner organisations. It is generally by invitation but if you feel you would benefit from attending then please contact us.
